Extending the services of your workshop with an air conditioning service is a wise choice

Karol Filarski, Dział Wyposażenia Warsztatów Autos

You have decided to extend the services of your workshop with an air conditioning service! In difficult times, you made a wise decision by pushing your workshop towards comprehensive car repair. You perfectly understand that in order to survive on the market you need to develop and invest.

You have "only" ..... to choose the appropriate station for servicing A/C systems. You are wondering what parameters to take into account, what to follow when choosing. Below are some tips that may be useful to you.

Definitely the first question you ask yourself must be: what refrigerant do you want to handle. Think for a moment what cars your customers will come to you with. If these are older passenger cars (before 2017-2018), trucks (before 2022), agricultural or construction machinery, you should choose a station for the "old" R134a factor. It is still the largest part of the market and it will be the dominant segment for a few more years. However, if you find our vehicles (passenger cars after 2018, trucks after 2022) - the choice should be a station for the "new factor" YF1234.

SUN KoolKare (A:123117) You can choose another way by buying a SUN KoolKare station (A:123117) for R134a refrigerant, which you can easily and cheaply upgrade in the future to handle a new refrigerant without having to replace the entire device. This is a choice for cautious customers, allowing you to save a lot in the future.

There's a fourth way if you want to handle 100 percent. vehicles that come to you. This is a DUAL GAS device (A:201422) that can handle both refrigerants. One station with two separate circuits that allows you to safely alternately service cars with old and new refrigerant.

You have researched the needs of customers and selected one of the above options, so it's time to decide what segment you want to serve. If these are buses, you must remember to choose a device with a much larger capacity of the internal tank, it would be good if it was equipped with a heating belt on the tank, and an additional pump for transferring the medium would allow you to work comfortably.

If you focus on cars and trucks, it would be worth considering a few functionalities that will make your work easier:

A PRINTER OR ELECTRONIC SERVICE LOG - they will allow you to archive information about the inspections performed, which, through the prism of the obligations to report refrigerant consumption, will greatly facilitate the creation of these reports.

ELECTRONIC SCALES OF OILS AND CONTRAST - allows you to automate the dosing of oils, thanks to which you will avoid mistakes and mishaps. The device will deliver exactly as much fluid as it has taken in during the recovery phase.

DIAGNOSTICS - a real hit! Just enter the measured temperatures and pressures and the device will print the system diagnosis for you!

DUAL GAS (A:201422)

PROTECTION OF THE REFRIGERANT WEIGHT - there are several solutions on the market - from mechanical locks protecting the strain gauge against damage when transporting the station or moving it on an uneven floor, through shock absorbers of the platform on which the cylinder is located, to "off-road" stations with multi-level protection and 12/24V power supply.

And finally, all you have to do is call your favorite Autos store and ask for delivery of the selected model. And the next day you earn PLN 200-250 net + margin on consumables on each website. And more importantly: replacement of condensers, post-accident repairs, etc. are done right away in your workshop without having to make appointments in external workshops and commuting to them.
