A unique motorcycle auctioned during the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity

Autos is primarily motorization and everything related to it. Therefore, if you can help those in need and save an automotive classic at the same time, we are happy to join the action. This year, we managed to expand the collection of unique vehicles that can be found in the head office, but also in some branches, with the WSK 125 Garbuska motorcycle. This copy is much better equipped than the series-produced two-wheelers. It has numerous chrome elements, i.e. wheel rims, silencer, counter, driver cover and brake lever. In addition, its mileage is only 7,000 km.

A very interesting story is connected with the motorcycle produced in Świdnik. The popular "beetle" was made to special order in the 1970s and purchased by the Experimental Department of the Institute of High Pressure Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, which was located in the Lasek villa in Celestynów. The export version of the WSK-i was to be used by the institute's scientific expedition to Egypt, and it was to be used by doctoral students who were members of this delegation. Unfortunately, the trip to North Africa did not come to fruition.

This motorcycle, produced in 1972, ended up in the hands of a distinguished figure for Polish science - Professor Sylwester Porowski. The eminent physicist became famous for the invention of the so-called blue semiconductor laser. This discovery has applications in in Blu-Ray technology.

After a short time, the motorcycle was stolen, but fortunately, the then Militia found it relatively quickly and returned it to the owner. The professor decided to give the bike to his employee, and from that moment on, the WSK was not used for nearly 40 years, and its "home" became the utility room of the institute's employee. In 2020, the son of Mr. Tadeusz (the said employee), Witold Witak, decided to sell the vehicle and thus ended up in the hands of Michał Niemczuk, the penultimate owner. Mr. Michał is passionate about the Polish automotive industry, so such a unique exhibit was a real treat for him.

The motorcycle underwent the necessary cosmetics after 40 years of disuse. The seat cover, side panels and spark plugs have been replaced. After a successful launch and driving a few rounds, he decided that such a copy could become an element of helping others. This is how WSK found its way to the WOŚP auctions. Thus, the WSK 125 Garbuska auctioned by Autos becomes an element of a large collection of Polish automotive thought, which has contributed to the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity through auctions. So far, Autos has purchased vehicles such as: Polonez Caro, Fiat 125p, Fiat 126p, and the Komar motorbike.
