SPAIN CONQUERED! KAMENA RALLY TEAM wins the first round of the European Cup

Tomasz Białkowski and Dariusz Baśkiewicz, the Kamena Rally Team, started the competition with a bang. Winning the Baja TT Dehesa Extremadura 2024 rally is a great prognosis for the rest of the season. It is an even greater success because they started for the first time in a new vehicle – Can-Am X3.

Rally in Spanish style

It was the 8th edition of the Baja Extramadura rally, and Kamena Rally Team started for the first time since 2022, when they finished in 1st place. A win is a win, but the victory was not so easy to win. Maybe apart from the prologue, which was summed up perfectly by driver Tomasz Białkowski: "It was a very fast, simple and Spanish-style stage, getting into the pace from the first corner. We finish in 1st place in our group."

However, the first stage of the Extremadura rally (100 km) was not so easy. The guys started the competition from 17th position, and the route ran through Portugal and a military area, where the conditions were exceptionally difficult - full of water holes, large cliffs and complicated navigation. Despite the failure of the tripmeter buttons, the team ended the day in 1st place in the SSV category.

The second day of the rally was expected to be intense, with two stages. The route led through fast, winding sections in the mountains. At 143 km, the team encountered a problem - their car was blocked in a narrow part of the river, stuck with the engine turned off. After the intervention of fans, the route was unblocked, and the lost time was reduced by 5 minutes and 46 seconds. Before the end of the stage, about 7 km from the finish, they had a front tire puncture, but they reached the finish line without changing it. Thanks to a well-prepared vehicle and the team's experience, they finished the stage with a 17-minute advantage over their rivals, maintaining first place in their group and moving up to 7th position in the general classification.

In the last stage, the Kamena Rally Team, having built up a significant time advantage, decided not to take any risks and reached the finish line safely without any adventures.

Ultimately they won the entire rally in the SSV category and 8th place overall.

European Cup Leaders

Thanks to the victory in the inaugural competition, the rally team supported by AUTOS took the lead in the Baja European Cup 2024 in the SSV category and sets off to triumph in the final classification of the championship. After the Spanish round, two teams from this country remain behind Kamena. They are ahead of the team with driver Fidel Castillo Ruiz by 8 points, and Miguel Prata Martinez by 19. They will certainly not give up, so it promises to be a very interesting season.

This year promises to be intense for the Kamen Rally Team, which has many prestigious competitions ahead of it.

Following their success in the Extremadura Rally, the team is preparing to take part in further cross-country rallies such as:

  • July 04-07 – Italian Baja (Italy)
  • August 08-11 – Hungarian Baja (Hungary)
  • September 19-22 – Baja TT Sharish (Portugal)
  • November 7-9 – Baja Troia (Türkiye)
  • August 23-25 – Baja Poland (Poland – Szczecin)

The new vehicle passed the test

The year 2024 is a turning point in the history of Tomek and Darek, because after many years they decided to change the car to Can-Am X3 in the FIA SSV specification. The results of the completed rally show that it works perfectly during the race. Thanks to this, their starts promise a lot of emotions and guarantee a fight for the highest goals.

Can-Am has established a strong presence in the world of off-road rallying through innovation and reliability. Since the introduction of the Maverick X3 series, Can-Am has become synonymous with performance and durability on the most demanding rally tracks. Can-Am vehicles, including the X3, are regularly chosen by leading rally teams for their advanced design, powerful engines and excellent handling.

Success at the Extremadura Rally not only confirmed their decision to change cars, but also opened up new opportunities for the future, giving them the confidence that they are ready for the next challenge in the world of rallying.

Good luck guys!
