Cylinder liners with replaceable fire ring
In internal combustion engines operating with heavy loads, manufacturers use cylinder liners with a fire ring. This ring is located on top of the sleeve and is sealed directly by the cylinder head gasket. The clamping force of the head fixes and fixes the ring in the correct position. The innovative solution is that the inner diameter of the fire ring is slightly smaller (about 0. 5 mm) than the bore of the cylinder liner. The piston cooperating with this type of sleeve has a reduced diameter of the crown - the area of the piston above the sealing ring in contact with the fire ring. A small amount of carbon deposits is not harmful, but you should try to reduce its amount as much as possible and enable its removal from the combustion chamber in the event of excessive carbon deposits.
Cavitation - caries of the cylinder liner - formation and prevention
Mahle engineers are regularly called upon for assistance by workshop and engine repairers in diagnosing faults. They encounter small holes that are sometimes found in cylinder liners. These holes occur only in "wet" sleeves, i. e. sleeves directly flowing through the coolant (type WN) and always in the area of the water jacket, and there, in turn, in the area of the upper and lower dead center of the piston. They are located only on the pressure or back pressure side and increase towards the inside. Are these casting defects? Were there any air bubbles in the cast iron during casting? None of these things. Because MAHLE manufactures cylinder liners by centrifugal casting. So these are certainly not factory defects, but a completely different phenomenon - pitting corrosion or cavitation.
Tips for the effective maintenance of the air conditioning system
Just before the summer season, specialized car services dealing with the air conditioning system in vehicles are under siege. Driving a vehicle on hot days certainly affects the comfort of the truck driver, but it also has a significant impact on safety. Studies conducted in high temperature conditions among bus drivers indicate, similarly to industrial psychology, that high temperature can reduce the excitability of the central nervous system, weaken the body's thermoregulatory functions and promote heat stroke. When the body temperature rises above 38°C, this effect is even stronger. If we lower the body temperature to 37 ° C, we can see a reduction in the number of mistakes made 1 . As we can see, thermal comfort is not only convenience, but even compulsion. 1. 2. mahle-aftermarket. 3. 4.
