Practical part

  • diagnostics using KTS and FSA devices on engines and training cars

Theoretical part

  • direct petrol injection systems – MED on the example of MED 9 and MED 7 systems used in VW group cars
  • FSI and classic engines, combustion of lean homogeneous and stratified mixtures - benefits, problems
  • low fuel pressure circuit: structure and operating principle of the variable, electronically controlled flow system; integrator, adaptations, basic settings
  • high pressure fuel circuit: construction and principle of operation of the system; construction, principle of operation of high pressure pumps – variants, high pressure regulation, typical faults, failure modes, system behaviour;
  • high pressure injectors - control concept, diagnostics, assembly/disassembly
  • intake system: air guides - construction, purpose, control concept, emergency mode
  • engine operating modes – types of mixtures, methods of their implementation, system behavior, emergency modes, diagnostics
  • exhaust system - exhaust gas treatment: exhaust system structure, variants
  • wideband probe in the process of regulating the composition of the variable λ mixture, construction, principle of operation, diagnostics
  • nitrogen oxides (NOx) accumulation and reduction system: emission and reduction of nitrogen oxides: structure and principle of operation of the NOx accumulation and reduction system, NOx storage catalyst, NOx sensor - structure, principle of operation, tasks, diagnostics, problem of sulphation and desulphurisation of NOx catalysts (also in the context of fuel quality and consumption)
  • exhaust gas recirculation in FSI engines
  • variable valve timing (also as an element to combat so-called turbo lag)
  • electronically controlled cooling system: system with electronically controlled thermostat (structure, operating principle, purpose of use, emergency mode, diagnostics), electronically controlled fans (purpose of use, control, diagnostics)
  • dethrottling of FSI engines in the context of increasing braking power
