Hengst strengthens its position as a supplier of filtration systems for the first assembly

Hengst

The cooperation of parts manufacturers with vehicle (or engine) manufacturers is an indispensable element of the development of vehicles and drive units. Parts manufacturers have to meet the high requirements of vehicle manufacturers.

For many years, Hengst Filtration has been a leading supplier of filtration solutions in both the passenger and truck sectors as well as the so-called. off-highway, i.e. among vehicles and machines moving off-paved roads. It is thanks to the experience gained during the development of solutions for the production line of vehicles and machines that we have gained and have maintained a leading position on the spare parts market for years.

A huge challenge for Hengst engineers is to respond to the tightening emission standards, which are first introduced in the truck sector. The Euro 6 standard, which for many companies turned out to be an extremely difficult barrier to overcome, forced filter manufacturers to introduce many revolutionary changes not only in the production process (such as impregnation of filter materials), but also, and perhaps above all, at the design and construction stage filtration solutions. A good example is the modularity of the systems, which allows e.g. precisely manage oil and coolant temperatures. We have pointed out many times that it is not an art to produce a filter that "will fit" - recreating the dimensions is trivial. However, the production of a filter that will be identical to the original equipment filter requires appropriate knowledge.

The Hengst Stack oil filter has intermediate stabilizing discs located along the length of the pleats in the filter element.

Hengst is not slowing down and is constantly expanding the scope of product deliveries to assembly lines. A perfect example is the E523H D373 oil filter fitted as original equipment to the new Mercedes-Benz Actros MP5 model. The patented Hengst Stack Energetic® 6 filter is fitted to Daimler's current Euro 6 engine series OM 471 / OM 473.

This filter is used in Mercedes-Benz Actros MP5, Mercedes-Benz Antos, Mercedes-Benz Arocs trucks and buses: SETRA S 400, SETRA S 500. The OE numbers of the filter are: A 472 184 25 25 and A 473 180 08 09. It is worth mentioning that the fluid flow and filtration module is also designed and manufactured by Hengst Filtration.

A very important item in the Hengst offer is the Blue.maxx series of modular fuel filters. Well received by the market, the Blue.maxx 450 has a "little brother" - Blue.maxx 300 is adapted to be installed in smaller spaces, while maintaining the required fuel flow and filtration parameters. Blue.maxx sets new standards for fuel filtration. The system combines low weight, lightweight construction and optimization of installation space with maximum operational efficiency. The obtained filter efficiency parameters in terms of dirt and water separation have been noticed and appreciated by vehicle manufacturers: Blue.maxx 300 is produced in series as an OEM part. Installed as a custom kit include: in Volvo Group's Mack Trucks MD6 and MD7, and in gas turbine generators for stationary power generation in UK-based Bladon telecommunications towers.

The Blue.maxx fuel filtration system is:

  • durable housing with an efficient, manual pump for venting the system - optionally with or without a heater,
  • Energetic® filter cartridge - separation of 10 μm or 30 μm to choose from,
  • a set of adapters providing various connection options,
  • water strainer and water drain screw.

The elements of the system can be selected and assembled by adjusting them to the needs resulting from the characteristics of the vehicle's operation.

In parallel with the presence on the assembly lines of truck and passenger car manufacturers, Hengst maintains strong ties with the sector of agricultural vehicles and construction machinery. No one needs to be convinced how much modern tractors differ in the solutions used from the good C330 or C360. Currently, the most important task is to safely extend the service intervals (obviously while maintaining filtration efficiency).

Thanks to Hengst Energetic® filters, the service intervals of Deutz and Fendt tractors have been extended. Deutz TCD 4.1 and 6.1 Agri in-line engines are factory fitted with a Hengst oil filtration unit with heat exchanger and liquid pump. A standard replacement in those mounted e.g. on Deutz tractors   Agrotron and Fendt   Vario 500, 700 and 800 engines is the Hengst Energetic® E470H D28 filter with a service life of up to 500 hours of operation. Now the range of off-highway products has been extended with the E470H01 D28 filter, which offers an extended service life of up to 1,000 hours, thanks to a new high-performance medium with increased dust holding capacity and higher chemical resistance. It's called vitality!

We are not slowing down - in the coming months we can expect more news directly from the assembly lines of vehicle manufacturers and Hengst Filtration factories. We encourage you to follow press releases - we are developing for you and for your business.

Hengst Filtration's offer includes the Blue.maxx 450 module designed for installation in trucks and buses, and the Blue.maxx 300 module adapted for installation in smaller spaces, while maintaining the required fuel flow and filtration parameters.
