Nissens expansion valves Optimum parameters of the air conditioning system

Nissens

Nissens Automotive expands its offer in the field of parts for the air conditioning system with expansion valves. The addition of a new product line to the already very wide offer of Nissens is the implementation of the strategy of providing the mechanic with a comprehensive range of parts for the repair of car air conditioning systems.

The expansion valve, together with the compressor, condenser, dryer and evaporator, is one of the most important components of an air conditioning system. Despite its small size, it plays a key role in ensuring the proper operating parameters of the system. The operating characteristics of the valve affect the operation and efficiency of the air conditioning. The basic functions of the expansion valve are:

  • allows expansion of the refrigerant (and drawing energy from the walls of the evaporator by the expanding agent),
  • controls the flow of refrigerant to the evaporator,
  • maintains optimal performance of the air conditioning system,
  • prevents liquid refrigerant from entering the compressor,
  • contributes to proper compressor lubrication by ensuring proper refrigerant flow.

Nissens expansion valves have been developed in accordance with the highest quality standards, they are subjected to a series of tests that aim to control performance (outlet pressure test, inlet pressure test, leak test) as well as durability control (vibration test, corrosion test, thermal resistance test, breaking strength test). All these activities ensure the maintenance of repeatable, high quality of the delivered products, including the correct operation characteristics and durability of the valves offered by Nissens.

Improper operation of the expansion valve leads to a deterioration in the efficiency of the air conditioning system and exposes the compressor to increased loads, and thus to premature wear or failure (e.g. overheating, seizing).

Stuck in the open or closed position is the most common failure of the expansion valve, which makes it impossible to control the refrigerant flow. The most common cause of expansion valve needle blockage are impurities left and circulating inside the air conditioning system - for this reason, preventively, in addition to flushing the air conditioning system, in the event of compressor seizing, it is recommended to replace the expansion valve with a new one.

The initial offer of Nissens expansion valves includes 63 references of factory-new valves, applicable in the most popular models of passenger cars, vans and trucks. The offer covers over 275 OE numbers. All Nissens expansion valves are First Fit products, which means that they come packaged complete with the necessary additional mounting parts, i.e. o-rings, washers, pins or mounting screws (if applicable to the model).
