Alternators and starters - new product return policy

Bosch

Starting in January 2021, Bosch is facilitating the return process for used alternators and starters through the Bosch eXchange (BX) Factory Remanufacturing Exchange Program.

BX replacement involves factory regeneration of worn parts, e.g. alternators and starters, and then sell them on the condition that the used device is returned. When the BX product is sold to the customer, a deposit is charged - it is refundable if the customer returns a used equivalent of the purchased device, suitable for regeneration. So far, however, it has happened that the seller or the evaluation point questioned the quality of the used device and the deposit was forfeited. To reduce the risk of a rejected return, Bosch is making changes to the terms of the transaction.

Among over 40 available brands you will find the possibility of diagnosing e.g. Linde, Jungenrich, Stihl, Bobcat, Manitou and many others.

PERMITTED PACKAGING

One of the biggest modifications is the ability to accept a used, compliant alternator or starter in a replacement package. When the original BX packaging is lost or damaged in the workshop, the used parts can now be packaged in a sturdy cardboard box and clearly marked with the number of the returned BX product (device returned in replacement packaging must have clearly marked original, which is converted into the correct BX product in the Bosch system) . A worn-out alternator or starter motor that meets the technical requirements can also be returned if its markings are missing or illegible. However, the returned device must be removed from the vehicle for which the BX product was intended. In this case, the condition of accepting the return is that the device is packed in the original BX box appropriate for this purchase and the original markings and barcodes on this box are legible.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL CONDITION

Requirements as to the technical condition of the returned device have also been relaxed. It will no longer be a problem to return an alternator with minor damage, missing plastic cover or missing pulley. A broken one rib of the openwork housing will also not disqualify the device. For starters, the breakage of the plastic part with the connection screws will no longer be a reason for rejection.

A PROFITABLE SOLUTION

Why choose factory remanufactured BX products: • they are usually much cheaper than new parts, • they undergo rigorous testing – the same as their new counterparts, • thanks to the use of appropriate parts and procedures, they last significantly longer than their equivalents on the market, • selection of products regenerated materials allows to reduce the consumption of natural resources, and thus protects the environment.

Do you know that:

Thanks to regeneration, Bosch saved 2,700 tons of various metals in 2019 alone, which corresponds to 7,400 tons of carbon dioxide * . About the same amount of gas would be produced in the production of new metal parts needed to assemble the same amount of new equipment. It would take as many as 590,000 beech trees to absorb this amount of carbon dioxide per year.
