The word merger has different connotations. Some see it as an opportunity, while others see it as the opposite. Some time ago, the Spanish company Cojali decided to sell a majority stake to the German company Knorr-Bremse. This purchase results in the acquisition of rights to one of the most famous diagnostic testers on the market, namely Jaltest . What effect will this have on the owners of this equipment? Is it an opportunity or a hindrance? You will find out in our article.
Customers with Jaltest diagnostics (A: 458302) could notice the first changes already in the latest software version 24.2., which has been available since July 2024. Along with the update, modules marked with the Knorr-Bremse brand icon were added. The changes are already visible on all semi-trailer/trailer modulators and in air control systems, as well as in EBS systems in trucks. Additionally, thanks to this connection, the technical bulletin has been greatly expanded for the better. The latest version of the Jaltest software has been enriched with original diagrams and repair messages on Knorr-Bremse units. The above technical data have greatly improved the accuracy and quality of the services performed, which are based on professional data straight from Knorr-Bremse. Thanks to this, we can confidently say that the diagnostics of this manufacturer's systems will be much easier using the Jaltest tester, and this from the service computer level.
As Alexander Wagner, Vice President Aftermarket / TruckServices EMEA at Knorr-Bremse Commercial Vehicle Systems says: " We already support our customers with workshop solutions for precise diagnostics of vehicle components, as well as assistance in troubleshooting. To further improve workshop efficiency, we plan to integrate Knorr-Bremse's NEO workshop diagnostic solution with Jaltest and include it in the range of services offered by Jaltest ." In order to use the Knorr-Bremse diagnostic options, it will be necessary to purchase an additional license to execute and use Knorr-Bremse bulletins. If we do not do this, we will not be able to diagnose these systems using our tester. The advantage, however, is the so-called expert codes. Nothing changes in this regard and the generated codes work without the need for additional investment.
The information provided by Knorr-Bremse is that these diagnostics will no longer be developed, and the suggestion is for customers to take advantage of promotional solutions consisting in exchanging Knorr-Bremse diagnostics for Jaltest diagnostics on preferential terms.
The combination of Jaltest and Knorr-Bremse further increases the diagnostic potential of commercial vehicles. The orientation towards progress and technological development of the two giants will probably lead to even greater progress in the field of diagnostics.
